What is a tipping point?

A tipping point is a threshold beyond which certain changes caused by climate change become irreversible. These changes can result in abrupt and hazardous impacts with very serious implications for the future of our planet.

Scientists have already identified areas of concern, such as deforestation, coral bleaching, melting of permafrost and glaciers, and the warming and acidification of deep oceans, but further research is needed.
